Joanna Sochacka

She has performed so far in many countries (England, France, Austria, Bulgaria, Germany, Czech Republic, Spain, Switzerland, Estonia, the Netherlands, Italy, Moldova, USA, Israel) in prestigious concert halls, including: Carnegie Hall in New York, National Forum of Music in Wrocław, Royal Albert Hall in London, Beethoven-Haus Concert Hall in Bonn, National Philharmonic in Chisinau, National Philharmonic in Warsaw, Cracow Philharmonic, Mozarteum in Salzburg, Ferenc Liszt Concert Hall in Raiding. Her debut CD with the piano music of Grażyna Bacewicz (DUX 1689), which was a world phonographic premiere, was acclaimed by the global press, radio and television (one of the best new CD releases of the prestigious Gramophone Magazine, The Classic Review New York, The Pianist Magazine). Her CD with Frederic Chopin's music, recorded for the Sheva Collection in the Naxos distribution was premiered on 27th May and is already very successful. She had many recordings and publications for radio and television in Poland, Brasil, Israel, England and USA.

Joanna is a prizewinner of many international piano competitions in England, USA, Estonia, France, Germany, Austria, Hungary incl. Medici International Music Competition (II prize - 2021), 17th Citta di Padova International Competition in Padua (I prize and all special prizes - 2019), III Moritz Moszkowski International Piano Competition in Kielce, Poland (II prize and special prize - 2009). She received numerous scholarships, including: the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage Young Poland (2020), Julian Cochran Foundation (2020), Dartington Scholarship Trust in England (2007, 2013), Sapere Auso (2009-2014), the National Fund for Children (2008-2012), the National Adam Mickiewicz Institute (2010), Rita Zimmermann Musik Stiftung Bern in Switzerland (2019), SEMP Mobility Program in Geneva, Switzerland (2019).

She currently studies at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Graz, Austria in the class of prof. Milana Chernyavska. Moreover, she finished PhD studies at the Academy of Music Grażyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz in Łódź in the class of dr hab. Hanna Holeksa. Graduated from K. Penderecki Academy of Music in Cracow on the class of prof. Andrzej Pikul and from Haute École de Musique de Genève in Switzerland in the class of prof. Fabrizio Chiovetta.

As a PhD she is working as a professor in the Piano Department of Grażyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz University of Music in Łódź. Regularly she is a jury member of many international competitions including International Liszt Piano Youth Competition in China and Utrecht, Elevato International Piano Competition in Salzburg, Bern and Łódź, IOPC- Instrumental Performance Competition, Trzciana International Piano Competition, Kreisler International Competition in Bonn, as well as Artistic Director of the Arthur Rubinstein Piano Prize Competition and AEGIO International Piano Competition - Europe. Joanna provided masterclasses for Association Chinese Culture Music & Arts in China and Germany, BAMA International Piano Festival & Masterclasses in Canada, Masterclasses in Pancho Vladygerov Music School in Burgas, Bulgaria, Masterclasses for Polish Embassy in Caracas and Festival Europeo de Jovenes Solistas in Venezuela. She gave many lectures about piano technique and the way of interpreting Chopin's music.

She honed her skills under the supervision of many outstanding pedagogues: Dmitry Bashkirov, Paul Badura-Skoda, Dina Yoffe, Akiko Ebi, Kevin Kenner, Anna Malikova, Andrzej Jasiński, Jura Margulis, Dmitry Alexeev, Jean Marc Luisada, Tatiana Zelikman, Ronan O'Hora, Elza Kolodin, Piotr Paleczny, Bradley Bolen, Emanuel Krasovski, Aquilles delle Vigne, Janusz Olejniczak, Konstanze Eickhorst, Lilja Zilberstein.
